Conventions on Writing About Literature and Citing Sources.

1. Fix the dropped quotation: Juliet is trapped. “Hang, beg, starve, die in the streets.” This shows her father is cruel.

2. Quote two lines of verse inside your own sentence, correctly punctuated.

3. Correct the tense: Rice showed the community as prepared, and Evan decided to go hunting.

4. This citation is wrong three ways: (Rice, page 71, Moon of the Crusted Snow).

5. Write a Works Cited entry for the novel and for the play.

6. Take one claim from your current draft and find the shortest quotation that proves it.
